The HBOT token is a standard ERC-20 token with a fixed total supply. It does not have any monetary or economic value. The primary use case for HBOT tokens is to empower holders to influence the evolution of the Hummingbot codebase through voting on three types of proposals: Pull Request Proposals (PRP), Improvement Proposals (IP), and Governance Proposals (GP). PRPs are linked to open pull requests in the Hummingbot code repository, IPs are linked to proposed improvements to the codebase, and GPs are linked to modifications to the Foundation governance system or distribution of HBOT tokens for community activities. All proposed code changes need to be submitted as PRPs and approved by HBOT holders to be merged into the codebase. HBOT token holders can also appoint members of the Hummingbot Foundation's Board of Directors. However, they do not have any financial rights or claims to the Foundation's assets or resources.
