I recently installed a cryptocurrency wallet on my computer, but Windows Defender keeps flagging it as a potential threat. How can I whitelist the wallet so that it is not blocked by Windows Defender?

- Dec 25, 2021 · 3 years agoOne way to whitelist a cryptocurrency wallet on Windows Defender is by adding it to the exclusion list. To do this, open Windows Defender and go to the 'Virus & threat protection' settings. From there, click on 'Manage settings' and scroll down to the 'Exclusions' section. Click on 'Add or remove exclusions' and then click on 'Add an exclusion'. Choose the option to exclude a folder and navigate to the location where your cryptocurrency wallet is installed. Select the folder and click 'Exclude this folder'. This will whitelist the wallet and prevent Windows Defender from flagging it as a threat.
- Dec 25, 2021 · 3 years agoIf you're using a specific cryptocurrency wallet that is being flagged by Windows Defender, it's important to make sure that you have downloaded it from a trusted source. Sometimes, Windows Defender may flag certain wallets because they are not widely recognized or have a low reputation score. In such cases, you can try submitting the wallet's executable file to Windows Defender for analysis and whitelisting. This can be done through the Windows Security app by going to 'Virus & threat protection' and selecting 'Scan options'. From there, choose 'Windows Defender Offline scan' and follow the instructions to submit the file for analysis.
- Dec 25, 2021 · 3 years agoAt BYDFi, we recommend following the steps provided by Microsoft to whitelist a cryptocurrency wallet on Windows Defender. Adding the wallet to the exclusion list will ensure that it is not blocked by Windows Defender and will allow you to use it without any issues. It's important to note that whitelisting a wallet does not guarantee its safety, so always exercise caution and only download wallets from trusted sources.
